Why take a plane from Houston to Atlanta?

You can knock off about nine hours of travel time if you opt to take a nonstop flight from Houston to Atlanta instead of a car. There are a number of airlines that operate between the two hubs, including Spirit Airlines, a no-frills discount service that offers very reasonable rates. Once you book your flight, all you need to do is hop on the Metro Bus or a taxi from central Houston to get to George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH). From there, you have just a two-hour flight before you arrive at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL), the city’s major commercial airport. It takes 20-40 minutes to get to Atlanta’s central hubs from the airport via the MARTA rail line.
